The Backstory

Working Wear was born from the inspiration that you shouldn't have to choose between functionality and fashion, especially when dressing for work. Sarah Jennings began sewing as a child with her mother. As an event planner she quickly realized how limiting the clothing she was wearing could be. Fed up with searching websites and sale racks for the elusive "great work dress with pockets" she decided there must be a better way. In 2014, at an event industry party, while colleagues were similarly bemoaning their limited clothing choices for work, Sarah had a vision for a company that could fix these problems and quickly began experimenting by sewing prototypes that would eventually become the Broadcast and Planner Blazers. Sarah began working with small manufacturing groups to ensure quality and all Working Wear Co. products are made in the USA by skilled hands in both NY and NC.

Sarah Jennings

Type A, champagne loving, wife and mom, Sarah decided not to settle for clothes that weren’t chic and functional. Originally from Germantown, MD, Sarah was swept up in the arms of the South when she attended NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Following graduation, she headed home and began a career in event planning in Washington, DC. After moving 8 times in 8 years, she and her husband settled on his family's farm, Lonesome Valley, in Cashiers, NC so Sarah could be the guardian of events on the property and they could raise their two boys in the prettiest place on earth while also being a female entrepreneur.
